Quick answer
The Klickfix Adapter from Nonstopdogwear lets you securely attach compatible dog gear to your bike's Klickfix mounting system. Follow the steps below to install it correctly and avoid common mistakes.
Why use a Klickfix adapter for dog gear?
If you already own a Klickfix mounting system on your bike, the adapter is a simple way to expand its use. Instead of buying a separate mount for every piece of gear, one adapter lets you switch between compatible accessories quickly.
The adapter's compact design means it won't add noticeable bulk, and its durable build is meant for regular use. That makes it a practical choice for daily commutes or weekend rides with your dog.
Step-by-step installation guide
- Check compatibility: Ensure your bike has a Klickfix mounting system and that the accessory you want to attach is compatible with the adapter. If you're unsure, check the product specs or contact the manufacturer. Don't force the adapter onto a non-Klickfix mount; it won't fit and could damage both parts.
- Attach the adapter to the mount: Position the adapter so it aligns with the Klickfix mount on your bike. Slide it into place until you hear a click, which indicates a secure connection. If you don't hear a click, the adapter isn't fully seated—reposition and try again.
- Secure your dog gear: Attach the compatible dog gear (such as a basket or carrier) to the adapter, following the gear's own instructions. Make sure it's locked in place before riding. Give the gear a gentle tug to confirm it's secure; if it moves, re-check the connection.
- Test before riding: Before heading out, do a short test ride in a safe area. Check that the adapter stays firmly attached and that the gear doesn't interfere with your steering or braking. If you notice any wobble or movement, stop and re-tighten or re-seat the adapter.
